Derby College - Extension to The Joseph Wright Centre, Derby

Derby College - Extension to The Joseph Wright Centre

Construction of a 4 storey steel framed extension to the existing college facility.

The project includes a piled foundation with ground beams and reinforced slab, a structural steel frame for the full height of the building. The upper floors are constructed using Holorib metal decking and reinforced concrete. The roof is formed by metal decking with insulation and single ply membrane. External walls are a combination of rendered sip panels to the upper floors and insulated blockwork walls to the lower ground floor. The windows are double glazed aluminium.

Internally a steel staircase has been installed to access each floor and a break through made at each floor to access the existing building. All internal walls are constructed from metal stud partitions and plasterboard, doors pre-finished veneer and floors will generally be vinyl with ceilings being lay in grid.

A full mechanical and electrical installation to take account of the college’s specific requirement including provision of PV panel to the roof.

The whole scheme has been constructed to achieve BREEAM Excellent.
