Brierley Forest Primary School, Sutton in Ashfield

Brierley Forest Primary School

Delivered as part of the Education Funding Agency’s framework, this project consisted of the construction of a two storey timber framed (SIPS) building to provide a new school facility to replace a dilapidated clasp building. The new building provided 14 classrooms, a specialist practical room, main hall, kitchens, staff room and a number of small SEN (Special Educational Needs) rooms.

Following demolition of the old school building, external areas were re-modelled to provide a mixture of grass sports pitches, hard play courts, a long jump facility as well as general hard and soft landscaped amenity areas.

A new access road was formed to facilitate deliveries to the new building. Fencing and gates were installed to secure the boundary and create safe segregation of pupils/vehicles, and staff car parking areas were re-modelled and upgraded.

The site was bounded by residential properties on all sides therefore a very considerate approach had to be adopted with regards to restricted delivery times and noises operations.
